Election Day: May 19!

Tracie Turrentine

Proven Leadership. Real Results.

It has been a true honor to serve as Superintendent of Morgan County Schools. I am a dedicated educator and lifelong advocate for children who is committed to keeping our schools moving forward—together, we have proven that when students come first, teachers are trusted to teach, and a community stands behind its schools, incredible things happen.

With almost 25 years in public education, I have had the privilege of serving at every level—from classroom teacher and coach to instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, Director of Federal Programs, Assistant Superintendent, and now Superintendent. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of what it takes to support teachers, strengthen schools, and find real-world opportunities for our students.

I am a lifelong Morgan County resident, proudly attending Eva School and graduating from Brewer High School. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Athens State University and my master’s in instructional leadership from Samford University. I live here in Morgan County with my husband, Josh Turrentine, a Danville High School graduate, and our twins, Jayden and Joslyn, who currently attend Priceville High School. My roots in Morgan County run deep—my dad, Tommy McCaghren, graduated from West Morgan High School, and my mom is a proud graduate of Eva High School. Growing up in a family with roots across multiple schools and communities in Morgan County has given me a strong, firsthand understanding of the needs, strengths, and values that make our county unique.

I am committed to leading with integrity and building a school system we can all be proud of for many years to come.

Under Tracie’s leadership, Morgan County Schools now offer students more opportunity than ever before.

The district is home to:

  • Over 30 career and college pathways

Through partnerships with Calhoun Community College, eligible students can earn two free years of college while still in high school. Morgan County Schools is also the only system in Alabama with their own healthcare facilities, providing hands-on training in nursing and dental health.

These programs prepare students for real careers while strengthening the local workforce.
